Spelling for Year 2 and Above (Day 1 of 4)
Focus: Curriculum
For: English leaders, teachers
Description:
Getting it right when we write! A spelling project focused on learning, remembering and applying.
This multi-session project will include the exploration of creative, memorable approaches for teaching spelling, as well as strategies for supporting those pupils who find difficulty in learning, retaining and applying spelling knowledge. Between meetings, there will be interim work that teachers may complete to explore the information and ideas further, which can be shared in the following sessions.
The first of four sessions across the year so that there is time to disseminate it throughout your school.
Multiple Sessions:
This is a four session programme. All four sessions must be attended.
- [1] Wed 25 September 2024
- [2] Thu 14 November 2024
- [3] Tue 14 January 2025
- [4] Tue 4 March 2025
Please note: If you book one of these sessions, then we will automatically book you on the others. So you only need to submit one booking.
Director’s Note:
Really support your English leader in this tricky area. Send the English lead and another teacher to this session. This will ensure the messages are shared amongst all staff and spelling improves across the whole school. Yes, you’ll need to cover two people, yes you do have to ensure they are BOTH covered for EVERY session. Do you want to sort out spelling or not?
