Prior to becoming a maths consultant, Nathan taught children in Years 1-6 across three Oxfordshire primary schools, including those in both urban and rural settings. During this time, he qualified as a Maths Specialist Teacher (MaST). It consequently led to him becoming part of the National College for Teaching and Leadership’s ‘small schools making an impact’ programme.

Driven by his passion for helping to ensure that all children access mathematics learning to the full, Nathan has more recently worked as an NCETM accredited independent maths consultant to support schools across the country in delivering high quality teaching and learning – most notably across the Early Years and Primary phases.

As well as providing training, he continues to work alongside classes and groups of children to explore how they learn best.

Maths – Train to Teach the TAs

Focus: Leadership and Management
For: Maths leaders

Description:

Enabling maths subject leaders to plan and run CPDF for Teaching Assistants in their own schools.

Maths professional development for Teaching Assistants, within schools led by subject leaders, should run alongside and link closely with maths CPD that teachers are also taking part in. This will be the main focus of the session – enabling subject leaders to put this into place in their own schools – whilst taking key aspects of the National Curriculum into account.

Director’s Note:

We’re trying something new! Instead of delivering a one-off session for your TAs, we are training your Maths leader to deliver this CPDF in your own school for your TAs (deliver it to class teachers and TAs together, so everyone hears the same message?) Your maths leader will leave with all the resources required to deliver this session. Get them booked on.
