Supporting Writing in Lower KS2 for TAs

Focus: Curriculum
For: Year 3/4 teaching assistants

Description:

Join this interactive online workshop to develop your subject knowledge of the Lower KS2 (Y3/4) writing curriculum and gain new ideas to support pupils with their written work.

In many cases, Teaching Assistants are involved in supporting groups and individual pupils with their written work. This course is designed specifically to provide TAs with an understanding of the Y3/4 writing curriculum and its associated subject knowledge, as well as an opportunity to explore strategies and approaches for scaffolding pupils’ writing to develop independence and confidence.

Suitable for TAs working in Lower KS2. Please note: KS2 TAs who are supporting pupils to learn and apply KS1 writing objectives may find it helpful to attend the Supporting Writing in KS1 workshop on 17 January 2024.

Participants will:

  • understand the national curriculum requirements for writing in Lower KS2 and the associated subject knowledge and terminology
  • explore strategies, activities and resources for working with pupils when writing
  • consider approaches for scaffolding writing for pupils who find difficulty with written work

Director’s Note:

We know how amazing TAs can be. This is your chance to nurture and develop their skills.
