Sarah Atkins
Sarah is a qualified teacher who has taught extensively across all key stages over her 22-year career. She is qualified to lead, instruct and coach a range of outdoor activities and is one of only 25 nationally Accredited Members of the Outdoor Education Advisers Panel.
Sarah has substantial experience of day, residential and curriculum-based outdoor learning and education. Sarah held the position of Deputy Head of Outdoor Education and the Outdoor Adviser role for Coventry Local Authority for 8 years and has held the position of part-time development officer for the Council for Learning Outside the Classroom for over 12 months.

For: Teachers/staff who lead and supervise educational visits of young people
Description:
Session 2: The Theory
OEAP Accredited
Those involved in the supervision of young people engaged in educational visits (e.g., teachers, youth workers, social service workers, teaching assistants etc.)
Specifically outlining:
- Educational Visits and Outdoor Learning: Benefits and Barriers.
- Legal Expectations: Including roles and responsibilities, duty of care, understanding national and local policyand guidelines.
- Planning, Leading and Evaluation on Visits and Outdoor Learning: Employer approval, proportionate planning, (SAGED), consent, pre-planning, supervision, provider checks, leader competence, record keeping and visit evaluation.
- Event Specific Planning: Risk – benefit assessment model and analysis, legal requirements, leader competence, involving all participants in risk management.
- Emergency Planning: Definition of an emergency, following employer plans.
Multiple Sessions:
This is a two session programme. All two sessions must be attended.
