Lorna Nicoll is a qualified and experienced Primary teacher, senior leader in Primary and Early Years settings and school governor.
Lorna has been working on Children North East’s Poverty Proofing programme since September 2018. Passionate about social justice and making a difference for disadvantaged and vulnerable children and young people, she has seen at first hand the immediate and long term value Poverty Proofing has in schools.

In this training session we will explore:
- definitions of poverty
- the causes and consequences of child poverty and how it affects educational performance
- the Poverty Proofing© ethos and examples of it in action, view it through the lens of a Catholic education
- the importance of gathering pupil voice in school settings to identify barriers to participation and co-produce place-based solutions
